Bangladesh Set for Calabar Carnival, To Exhibit Literature, Products

The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh has joined the league of states to participate in the 2019 edition of the Calabar Carnival.

This was disclosed by the High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr M. Shameem Ahsan when the Cross River State Carnival Chairman paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja recently.

He requested to put up a large stall where Bangladeshi products and literature will be exhibited at the 30-day carnival village .

Speaking, the Chairman of Calabar Carnival Commission, Mr Gabe Onah who gave a brief summary of this years Carnival plans, noted that the number of foreign participants has increased over the years, told the High Commissioner that the Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has approved him as one of the dignitaries to declare the carnival dry run in Calabar which comes up Sun 20th October and shall be marketed as Tourists event by National Association of Tour Operators ( NATOP)

The Carnival this years is themed “Humanity”. Governor Ayade has said that 2019 Carnival should be beyond dance.

Ayade said this when he declared the theme of the carnival as, ‘Humanity’ .

According to him the intellectual content of the carnival should be beyond dance, it must pass a strong message that would make the world a better place for humanity.

Also in a related chat with the media Mr. Ona had noted that the carnival would foster ethnic and religious tolerance among nations of the world.
